Joe Krupp

A Wisconsin native, Joe began his development career in 1985. Focusing on urban infill development, he is responsible for numerous projects throughout Madison and Dane County.

Joe launched his construction career in 1976 with the founding of Design Shelters, a custom home design company. While operating Design Shelters, Joe founded Krupp General Contractors, building a wealth of commercial offices, clinics, senior housing, restaurants, industrial and multi-family mixed-use projects.

Over the past thirty-five years Joe has been a primary developer of the Schenks-Atwood neighborhood, revitalizing it into one of Madison's most desirable and walkable residential neighborhoods. He served as the Chair of the Schenks-Atwood Business District Planning Council that authored a redevelopment plan adopted by the City of Madison in 2000. He was also a major early developer of the Basset Street neighborhood, transforming the area from a student to owner-occupied district. It is this visionary reinvention of neighborhoods that Joe most enjoys in the development process.

Throughout his career, Joe has been awarded numerous trade association project recognition awards as well as the National Builders Association Project of the Year for the Bedford Court apartments in downtown Madison. Joe enjoys giving back to the Community and has been Chairman of the Board at One City Schools, where he continues to serve as a Vice Chairman. He also served on the Boards of Edgewood College, Meriter Residential Services, Madison Repertory Theater Board, Madison Area Builders Association, and the Wisconsin Builders Association. Joe earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
